To start a moving business you need a moving truck or van…start small…the smaller the investment the smaller the loss if it doesnt work out…if it does work out and you are making a profit invest your money back into the business and grow it with money earned not borrowed…as far as licences, you need to have insurance, general and liablity insurance and of course vehicle insurance that covers anything of value that you may be moving…you also need to have an EIN # that is your first step…you can register on line for an Employer Identification Number with the IRS then from there you need to consult with a local CPA..a consultation is usually free and they can advise what local and state licences you will need in addition to providing pointers…you will also want to be comfortable with this CPA and have full confidence in them or go find another one! Again the most important thing once again is your in business to make money not spend money you dont have always start small and grow from there! My husband started his Heating and Cooling business 4 years ago from the back of a 1989 Lincoln Town Car and his first job paid for his first Service van…he continues to reinvest money back into the business and each year his profit has increased by at least 50% from the year before.
