HOW LONG CAN THE BANK HOLD THE FUNDS FOR A CHECK I DEPOSIT?

My bank, Washington Mutual, where I’ve been promissory note for 2+ months, continues to reason supports upon each check we deposition for the smallest of 4 days, up to 2 weeks. The 4-day order is for the check from the internal bank. The 2 week order is for non-local checks. They have been really formidable about these extreme reason times, as well as get irritable when challenged about them. My prior bank never hold checks for so long. we have no inauspicious promissory note story which would need WaMu to be so careful.

Please do not discuss it me usually what your bank does; we would similar to to listen to from those who essentially know what the Federal regulations have been upon this matter. I’ve done the couple of phone calls about this as well as looked online, though we can’t find reliable, present information. Thanks for your help.
